About Executive Deputy Secretary Stevens:
Sari Stevens was appointed Executive Deputy Secretary for the PA Department of State in April 2019. In this role, she serves as the Chief of Staff to the Secretary of State, overseeing daily operations, staff management, and strategic direction of the Department.
Prior to her appointment, Sari served as the Executive Director of Planned Parenthood Pennsylvania Advocates, where she developed and implemented legislative, regulatory, communications, and grassroots efforts. Under her leadership, the organization nearly quadrupled its staff and budget and expanded its reach to provide non-partisan voter registration opportunities and issue education for patients in nearly 30 health centers in Pennsylvania. Sari brings more than 15 years of experience in management, strategic leadership, and civic engagement, and has been a frequent public speaker and panelist.
Sari graduated in 2004 from Skidmore College and began her career as a liaison to public officials in the Office of the Governor in New Jersey. In addition, she has served on the Executive Committee for America Votes in Pennsylvania, on the board of Pennsylvania Voice, as a member of the Transgender Working Group under the leadership of Physician General Rachel Levine, and as a member of the inaugural Leadership Cohort of Planned Parenthood Federation of America.
She was honored as a YWCA Woman of Excellence in 2017, named to the Top Ten Politics PA list in 2012, and appointed as a transition team member for Governor Tom Wolf in 2014. Sari is past president of her neighborhood association in Lower Allen Township and proud parent to three children, two dogs, and six industrious chickens. In her spare time, Sari is an avid gardener, with a personal commitment to producing as much of her family’s perishable goods as possible and keeping the Department of State flush with fresh flowers. |
