Intimidated by balance sheets and income statements? Pulling your hair out over budgets? Stress no more! This two-part webinar series will equip you with the tools you need to understand your nonprofit organization’s finances and present them in ways that speak to funders. Basic accounting concepts will be reviewed, and budget development methods will be discussed. Guiding principles from the Standards for Excellence® will be incorporated throughout the presentation to highlight the importance of ethics and accountability in financial management.
Whether your organization is a small start-up or a larger organization with a dedicated accounting department, this series will give you the confidence you need to talk about your organization’s finances with funders. This interactive web series will allow ample time for specific questions and provide opportunities to practice what is discussed.

About the Facilitators: Stephanie Cory Stephanie has dedicated her career to the nonprofit sector since 2003 in roles from program manager to development director to executive director. She splits her time as a consultant and adjunct faculty for Villanova University. Stephanie is a Licensed Standards® for Excellence Consultant, BoardSource Certified Governance Consultant, and Master Trainer for the Association of Fundraising Professionals. She has twice been treasurer for nonprofit boards as well as been responsible for budgeting, financial reporting, and financial management as an executive director. Stephanie earned a BS in Accounting from the University of Southern California and an MEd in Adult and Organizational Development from Temple University.
Jason Jones Jason joined the Citizens Bank team in March 2020 as community development market manager (VP). In his role at Citizens Bank, Jason oversees community development services, investments, and lending in low-to-moderate income areas of Western Pennsylvania. He has additional experience as the director of entrepreneurship at Idea Foundry where he oversaw fundraising. Jason has more than 17 years’ experience in banking, management, investment, economic development, and Community Development Financial Institutions. He also is an Adjunct Professor in the School of Business for Community College of Allegheny County. Jason is very active in the community in Pittsburgh, serving on the board for Homewood Children’s Village, The Forbes Funds, Mentorship Partnership Pittsburgh, and The Urban Redevelopment Authority Micro Loan Committee. He was named as one of Pittsburgh’s 40 Under 40 (Pump) in 2017, 2018’s 50 Finest (Cystic Fibrosis), and Fab 40 (New Pittsburgh Courier) in 2019. He holds an MS in Strategic Leadership and BS in Organizational Leadership from Mountain State University. |
