Intro to the Standards for Excellence®: A Practical Framework for Nonprofit Strength

Nonprofits play a vital role in meeting community needs. The Standards for Excellence® program offers a practical framework to help you strengthen your operations, build trust, and stay aligned with ethical and effective practices.

This introductory webinar will look at the latest version of the Standards. The program was recently updated to be more accessible and adaptable for nonprofits of all sizes, missions, and communities.

We will review how to use the Standards, find the Educational Resource Packets you need and navigate the documents to use them well. 

We will talk about accreditation options for nonprofits in Pennsylvania. We’ll also review the six key areas that form the foundation of the Standards:

• Mission, Strategy, and Evaluation
• Leadership: Board, Staff, and Volunteers
• Legal Compliance and Ethics
• Finance and Operations
• Resource Development
• Public Awareness, Engagement, and Advocacy

Later in the Summer 2025 we will launch the Standards for Excellence Implementation Series, a two-day educational program for nonprofit leaders in Pennsylvania.

About the Facilitator:

Ashley Suhler Tobin, Standards for Excellence Director, PANO

Ashley earned an MPA with a concentration in Nonprofit Management from the George Washington University. Ashley brings tremendous amount of experience in nonprofit administration and business. She became a Standards for Excellence Licensed Consultant in 2014 and joined PANO as the director of the program in 2024. Areas of expertise include strategy, program development, fundraising and board management.
