Fundraising with Confidence: Navigating PA’s Charitable Gaming Laws

Tuesday, August 19 | 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM | Live Webinar + Q&A

Presented by: James A. Jones, Retired State Police Captain, Pennsylvania State Police, Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement

Small Games of Chance (SGOC) offer nonprofit organizations a powerful way to raise funds while engaging their communities—but operating these games legally requires a clear understanding of Pennsylvania’s SGOC Act and the associated regulations.

In this informative and practical session, attendees will learn how to run raffles, pull-tabs, and other charitable games in full compliance with state law. From licensing requirements and payout limits to record-keeping and audit readiness, we’ll break down the key elements nonprofits need to know to stay compliant and successful.

Led by retired State Police Captain Jamie Jones, this course will also cover recently introduced legislation, common pitfalls, and best practices for SGOC fundraising. Whether you're new to charitable gaming or looking to sharpen your compliance strategy, this session will equip you with the knowledge and confidence to maximize your fundraising impact – without the legal headaches.

Topics Include:

  • Understanding what qualifies as SGOC
  • Licensing and permit requirements
  • Record-keeping and reporting obligations
  • Payout limits and prize restrictions
  • Differences between bingo and SGOC
  • Can you legally run SGOC fundraisers online?
  • Common mistakes and how to avoid them
  • New trends and legislative updates

Ideal for: Nonprofit leaders, board members, fundraising staff, and volunteers involved in event planning or SGOC based fundraising.
