How would you react if there were?

Some employers might have a knee-jerk reaction of dread. Fight to the end! Even if it takes years and costs a fortune!

What if there were another way?

Employers have a lot of tools to oppose unionization. We read about them almost daily in the business world. Those same tools are available for nonprofits.

Yet there are also tools and strategies to support organizations that want to choose a different path — one that respects staff’s desire to be represented, and leans in to organizational values. We will talk about them in this webinar.

A nonprofit CEO, Melissa Gerber Weiler, and her lawyer, Patricia McCausland, who negotiated and implemented a union contract will talk about their experience and how to center the nonprofit’s values.

Together they will discuss :

  • How to advance values-based changes while aligning with mission and improving staff retention.
  • The advantages of working with your employees to achieve the organization's goals.
  • Making rapid values-based decisions.
  • Challenges of working with unions and counsel more accustomed to the for-profit environment.
  • Explaining restricted funds, lack of budget flexibility and other constraints peculiar to nonprofit.
  • Investing in negotiations to promote more positive relationships between management and the union.
  • Keeping the board informed and providing management training and engagement throughout the process.
  • Dealing with unforeseen circumstances in the first year and beyond.

Registrants can submit questions before the webinar or during the live program. If we can’t answer them during the program, we typically follow-up with an email after the program.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
 HR Directors, Nonprofit Executives

WHAT WILL I GET?
Registrants will receive a copy of the PowerPoint and the Standards for Excellence Educational Resource Packer related to this topic.

Terms of Participation
Your purchase entitles you to a single login. Please do not share the login information with others, as it may interfere with your ability to join. If multiple individuals from your organization would like to view the webinar, please purchase separate tickets for each person or consider a group screening ticket (below).

GROUP SCREENING COST (4-10 individuals):
$150 per group for PANO Members | $333 per group for Not-Yet Members

You can then enter the names and email addresses of up to 9 other individuals to add to your group ticket. This option makes the most sense when you have 4-10 individuals interested in viewing the webinar. For fewer than 4 attendees, a single login ticket for each person is the most cost-effective option. For more than 10 attendees, please email Ashley Tobin at ashley@pano.org to discuss options.
